Bob Dylan: Christmas In The Heart (2009)
Brandon Sears
Bob Dylan returns with an all new album just in time for the holiday season.

What is different this time around is that Mr. Dylan is bringing us a holiday themed production, "Christmas In The Heart". Being the Christmas fanatic that I am, I just had to own this album. No, I am not the world's biggest Dylan fan, I only own one album and one of his many "best of" collections but I do enjoy the odd Dylan tune from time to time. When you add that to the fact that this is a Christmas album that consists of ONLY classic holiday tunes and nothing new then you've got a guaranteed purchase from me.

Mr. Dylan does a fine job with what little voice he seems to have left. Obviously the man is not going to sound anything like what he did 40 years ago, only a handful of people can take care of their voice that well (Jagger comes to mind). Perhaps it's just me but a classic Christmas song is hard to screw up. Dylan only produces two songs on this album that I'm not already familiar with, that being "Christmas Blues" and "Christmas Island". While I doubt this is going to earn its place among some of the all time great Christmas albums, it's certainly an interesting venture by Mr. Dylan and something that people should give a shot.

Dylan embraces the "heart" in Christmas by donating all proceeds from the sale of this album to charity, so if that's not a good enough reason to pick it up, I don't know what is.
